Exposition

François Huguenin

Practice, practice, and more practice. With maximum attentiveness and totally bored. Try to find the uniqueness in the recurrence of the movements. Repetition, repetition, the mind struggles with the tedium in the repetition. In Western culture we are used to continually changing our outer forms, to having a diary full of exciting and varied events; unique events are the order of the day. And what we long for is inner continuity. In Taijiquan and in Qigong the idea is to keep precisely these external forms the same, to search for the unique within this as if there were no repetition. The ink-filled brush just happens to level unique marks on the paper. Each stroke is a thing in itself within an unchanging motif. At a certain moment one drawing acquires a rightness, while another may lose it. The paper is rolled out again, practice, practice, practice, with maximum attentiveness, searching for the uniqueness in the recurrence.

You are invited to the opening of the show on saturday September 29 at 5pm at the restaurant P'tit Paris, Rue du Progrès 4, La Chaux-de-Fonds.
