Shaïna, a young artist, is haunted by strange dreams and visions. She suspects that she has a mysterious calling and despite her boyfriend's disapproval, she decides to do a bit of investigating. This will lead her to the discovery that the world is not "uniform" and we are not necessarily who we think we are. A story full of poetry, suspense, reversals, love, philosophy and combat action; this film brings the spectator to the discovery of the Chinese martial art Tai Chi Chuan. "Shaïna and the Sacred Fan" was conceived and realized with audacity and creativity by adepts of Tai Chi Chuan and illustrates that an amateur film can generate wonderful cinematographic emotion.

It is essential to practice Tai-Chi Chuan with a partner for better under-standing of the solo form. Partner work puts the movements into context and trains the player's co-ordination as well as the different jings (applied qi) such as: Ting Jing (listening), Hua Jing (changing), Fa Jing (expressing).
On this DVD, Cornelia Gruber-Bilgeri is giving an instruction course through the San Shou partner form which includes most movements of the Yang style Tai-Chi Chuan solo form. Each movement is shown with detailed application and in slow motion. The complete form is visible several times from side verso as well as from side recto.
